New House, Glenbeg, Acharacle

Kearney Donald Partnership Ltd. were approached to design a two-bedroom bungalow for a site in Glenbeg, Acharacle.

The site is in an elevated position above the B8007 road to Kilchoan with an extensive view over Loch Sunart

From the early sketch stages the design had both bedrooms and the living area set at the front of the house facing the view and the more utility areas to the rear.

This lead to a rectangular shaped building with a large, glazed frontage.

The roof was developed as a monopitch with the high point to the front to keep the form of the building low so as not to interrupt the skyline

This also makes it feel like the view opens up to you from the inside when in the living spaces

The side walls and the monopitch roof carry on out past the glazed frontage to create a semi-covered patio area with some planting

The open plan living area serves as the central space with the kitchen along the back wall and space for a dining table alongside the main seating area
