Phase 1 of the project was to develop new timber treatment and kiln drying facilities. Before any detailed design/planning work could begin, a detailed masterplan of the whole 67 acre site was required making sure to future proof the development as far as possible.

This element of work was led by Kearney Donald Partnership, who worked in conjunction with the client, the rest of the design team and the local Planning Department.

Once this section was complete detailed planning for phase 1 was obtained. Building warrant and the tender process then followed leading to works starting on site in July 2008 and being completed in February 2009.
